CANADA WAR OF 1812 ASSOCIATION
Welcome to the CANADA WAR OF 1812 ASSOCIATION webpage, a forum dedicated to the study of the War of 1812 between Canada and the United States. The Association’s primary goal and purpose is the gathering and sharing of historical information concerning the War of 1812. The organization is a Cyber Roundtable that provides a nerve center for people interested in the War of 1812 from a Canadian perspective. The mutual sharing of knowledge is encouraged as a means of adding to this fascinating area of study. Internet links are available and sources for research materials. The Association’s seminars, conferences, walking tours, data banks and network of contacts provide unique and valuable information to professional and amateur historians, scholars, students, history buffs, and anyone else interested in learning from the past.
Participants benefit from the organization’s stimulating think-tank atmosphere and lively exchange of opinions. Its laboratory of ideas, consisting of objective and subjective intellectual exchanges and exercises, help advance the general study of the War of 1812. Participants are encouraged to share with the Association any War of 1812 era related information and knowledge, including: military and family records, birth certificates, marriage licenses, wills, photographs, films, books, drawings, illustrations, maps, documents, memorabilia, souvenirs, antiques, data, statistics, facts, stories, anecdotes, rumors, tidbits, opinions, questions, ideas, bibliographies, recordings, etc. In addition, special emphasis and focus is directed to field research and reports, historical antecedents, geneology and archeological studies. The Association also devotes much attention to the investigation, interpretation, commentary, and translation, of submissions regarding the lives of common and prominent citizens, politicians, and soldiers of the War of 1812 epoch.
Information is collected, recorded, shared, and disseminated via the Internet, telephone, fax, postal service, and in person. All viewpoints and contributions of information and knowledge are welcome.
